Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions recognised for robust carbon footprint reduction measures
Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions (BBUS) has received CEMARS (Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme) certification as part of its carbon reduction programme.
The certification demonstrates that BBUS has robust carbon measurement processes in place and meets the requirements of ISO 14064-1, the internationally recognised standard for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions.
To receive this accreditation BBUS compiled an extensive report on all its operational greenhouse gas emissions and hosted several site visits to demonstrate to assessors that procedures were consistently implemented throughout the organisation and on site.
CEMARS certification is a significant step for BBUS in demonstrating to its customers its commitment to reducing carbon footprint is vital. The CEMARS scheme will provide a valuable benchmark against which to gauge BBUS progress towards the 2020 sustainability vision.
Balfour Beatty Construction Northern - A Sunday Times Best Green Company
Balfour Beatty Construction Northern made the Sunday Times Best Green Companies list this year which is a fantastic achievement. Competition for places was intense and the quality of entries very high. Only those organisations demonstrating the highest environmental standards, with workforces wholly engaged and in tune with their green initiatives made it onto the list. All employees were sent a survey with over 60% taking part.
